Well today's the day I finally put all the excuses aside and went for a 15 minute walk up Island and 15 minute back for the first day of walking in 2009.
Last year I wanted to walk 263 miles as my goal. I did it in approx 60 day's, 263 miles is the distance from Jupiter to Jacksonville Fla. IM setting the same goal this year and hope to do it in the same number of day's or less. I plan to get up to 5 miles a day in the next two weeks.
The Honolulu Heart Study of 8000 men found that walking just two miles a day cut the risk of death almost in half. The walkers' risk of death was especially lower from cancer. Other studies have had similar findings - if you keep walking, you improve your chances of a longer and healthier life.
